Serey (Dina) and Eva Marie (Fern)

Fern and Dina’s Gallery and Gifts is a new business located in the historic district of Fernandina Beach on Amelia Island, Florida.  Amelia Island is a barrier island where the population is environmentally aware , and that is what drew Eva Marie, Serey and her husband to the island.  The wonderful downtown location is full of beautiful architecture, a long and colorful history, and friendly locals.

Serey and Eva Marie’s friendship began in 2007 while they both attended a ceramic class at the Penland School of Crafts in North Carolina.  They realized they had much in common, namely, they were both art teachers in the Georgia school system with a passion for learning and teaching all aspects of art.  Eva Marie has 20 years teaching experience in public and private schools, art camps and private lessons.  She taught at Darlington School for 10 years.  Eva Marie earned a BFA in Printmaking from the University of Georgia.  Serey has over 30 years of teaching experience in city art centers, community education programs and for the Georgia Council for the Arts Artists-in-Education program.  She taught at the Atlanta Speech School for 17 years.  Serey earned a BFA in Ceramics from Georgia State.

When Eva Marie and Serey moved to Fernandina Beach, they quickly decided to open an art center.  The art community is thriving on the island.  They wanted to be a part of the action on the island.  Their hope is that their passion for the arts and for arts education will flourish at Fern and Dina’s.
